Open Settings, and then go to System > Sound. Scroll down and select More sound settings (Windows 11), or select Sound Control Panel (Windows 10) on the right. Go into the Sounds tab, and remove the check next to Play Windows Startup sound to turn it off, or place a check there to start hearing the sound.

- Select Start and Settings.
- Select Personalization.
- Select Themes.
- Select Sounds.
- In the Sound dialog (Sounds tab), check or uncheck the Play Windows Startup Sound option.
- Select Apply and OK.
To get to this folder, open the File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar. Next, navigate to the Windows folder and find the Media folder. The sounds folder is located in this folder and contains the startup sound file.
The startup sound is located in the C:\Windows\System32\imageres. dll file. You'll need to take ownership of this file first in order to modify it.
Go to Settings > System > Sounds > More sound settings > Sounds > select an event. Now select a sound by clicking the dropdown. Click Apply, OK.
